Manufacturing of cross support for engine and gearbox of Pagani Zonda

ENContrary to road car version of Pagani Zonda, race car has rear frame supported by large cross made of forged aluminum. Engine and gearbox are attached to this cross from both sides and through the side hole starter motor is mounted to the cross as well.

Cross is manufactured from forged aluminum EN AW 7022 and is milled using 5 axis of DMG HSC 105 using two clamping. Toolpaths were generated in HSMWorks. Dimensions of the cross are 840 x 600 x 50 mm. Total milling time was approximately 26 hours.
